ROHI Free Medical Program at Ndegwu Community in Imo State
The Rivers of Hope Initiative (ROHI) successfully held a Free Medical Outreach at Ndegwu Community, Imo State, as part of its ongoing effort to improve community health and well-being across Nigeria.
The outreach, which attracted a large turnout of community members, was designed to provide much-needed healthcare services to individuals who may otherwise have limited access to medical care. From the early hours of the day, residents of Ndegwu Community gathered in anticipation, hopeful for relief, care, and professional medical attention—and ROHI delivered.

Beneficiaries received free medical consultations, basic health screenings, diagnosis, and treatment, as well as health education on preventive care and healthy living. The workshop was designed to equip young girls with practical, income-generating skills while nurturing creativity, confidence, and self-reliance. Using colorful Ankara fabrics, participants learned step-by-step techniques involved in designing and producing stylish purses and square bags—from cutting and stitching to finishing and presentation.
For many of the girls, it was their first hands-on experience with fashion accessories production. With guidance from skilled facilitators, they quickly transformed fabric into beautiful, market-ready products, discovering talents they never knew they had.
Dream Like Girls: More Than a Workshop
The Dream Like Girls initiative goes beyond skill acquisition. It focuses on mental empowerment, self-belief, and positive self-expression. Throughout the program, participants were encouraged to dream boldly, think creatively, and see themselves as future entrepreneurs and leaders.

The Rivers of Hope Initiative (ROHI), through its AGYW Group – The Great Generational Leader, successfully organized a skills acquisition and advocacy program in Okaw Community, Degema Local Government Area. The initiative focused on the production of perfume, bleach, liquid soap, and air freshener, while also strengthening community advocacy for improved access to healthcare Skills for Self-Reliance and Leadership The training equipped Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) with practical, marketable skills that can translate into immediate economic opportunities. Participants were guided through hands-on sessions on how to safely and effectively produce household and personal care products using locally available materials. From mixing and formulation to packaging and quality control, the young women gained knowledge that empowers them to start small businesses, support their families, and become financially independent. Beyond production, discussions on entrepreneurship, teamwork, and leadership helped build confidence and purpose among participants. Advocacy Through Community Partnership In line with ROHI’s holistic approach to development, the program also served as a platform for health advocacy. ROHI joined hands with local leaders and community partners to engage residents in conversations around the importance of accessible and quality healthcare.
